Savvy Spices

Coming Soon! A sign like that always catches my attention. I suppose that is the goal. Last fall one in particular peaked my curiosity. "Savvy Spices" Now that is my kind of store!

About This Blog

The idea for this blog started as I looked through a cookbook I brought home from a recent trip. My husband, Mark, stopped me and asked "have you ever made anything out of the cookbook you bought when we went to Philadelphia last year?" It was sitting close by on a bookshelf, gathering dust. For that matter, he asked "have you made anything out of the majority of cookbooks you have?"

I love cookbooks and am constantly coming home with a new one and adding it "to the kitchen shelf". But, my husband is right, I have my favorites and the others I just "look through" for ideas. My goal was to push myself to make at least one recipe from every cookbook I own and write about it, and the book.

The blog is evolving and is taking on a slightly different twist than I originally planned. You'll find a variety of cookbook reviews, some of my own recipes and creations and stories about local food shops I visit in Pittsburgh as well as places I find as we travel. I hope you join me on this adventure!
